Located on the green oasis of Margaret Island, the Palatinus Park and Spa is one of Budapest’s most iconic and largest open-air bath complexes. Originally opened in 1919, it was Hungary’s first outdoor public bath fed by thermal springs. Today, Palatinus offers a perfect mix of recreation, wellness, and medical bathing, featuring over a dozen pools — including wave pools, children’s pools, adventure slides, and thermal pools supplied by mineral-rich water from the island’s natural springs.
The thermal water, containing calcium and magnesium bicarbonate, is known for its beneficial effects on the joints, spine, and musculoskeletal system. Guests can also enjoy a wellness area with saunas, steam cabins, and massage services, as well as a modern indoor spa section added during the 2017 renovation, allowing the bath to operate year-round. Surrounded by trees and lawns, Palatinus combines the charm of a historic open-air lido with contemporary wellness comfort, making it a must-visit for families, locals, and tourists alike.
