The Szent Lukács Thermal Bath is one of Budapest’s oldest and most storied spas, with roots tracing back to the 12th century, when the Knights Hospitaller operated healing baths on the site. Renowned for its therapeutic waters, rich in calcium, magnesium, and hydrogen carbonate, Lukács has long been celebrated for treating spinal disorders, joint problems, and circulatory conditions.
Today, the bath offers a refined blend of traditional healing and modern wellness, featuring indoor and outdoor thermal pools, swimming pools, saunas, a Himalayan salt room, and massages. Its wellness section includes a variety of treatments, from mud therapy to weight baths, continuing its centuries-old medical heritage. Visitors can also sample mineral-rich water in the drinking hall, which has been a beloved feature since the early 20th century.
Historically, Lukács was a meeting place for international health tourists, many of whom left marble plaques on its walls in gratitude for cures received. Today, it remains a tranquil yet dynamic bath on Budapest’s Buda side, offering an authentic connection between history, healing, and relaxation.
